People commonly burn the conventional Agalvilakku by using oil/ghee in it. But in this Panchakavya� Agalvilakku, after burning the lamp wick, the lamp itself gets burnt and produces smoke. This is believed to produce benefit equivalent to doing homam at homes as per Hindu tradition.
